Vega Product Review

VEGA
Prepare * Sustain * Recover

Vega Sport has three "types" of products they promote.

Prepare is to, "Get in the zone with energy to burn. Designed to take your workout to the next level by significantly enhancing physical and mental performance."  Products include Pre-Workout Energizer and Sugar-Free Energizer.
Sustain is to, "Push harder, last longer. To Take it to the next level.  Provides immediate and sustained energy, hydration and electrolyte replenishment."  Products include Electrolyte Hydrator, Energy Bars, and Endurance Gel.
Recover is to, "Recharge and prepare so you can do it all again, sooner.  Replenishes your system, repair muscle tissue, and reduce inflammation to assist in recovery."  Products include Performance Protein, Protein Bars, and Recovery Accelerator.

I was given a chance to try out the Recovery Protein Bars in Chocolate Mint and Chocolate Peanut Butter.  (Also available in Chocolate Coconut.)

Since these bars are for recovery, they are obviously to be eaten AFTER a workout.  Each bar includes:
  • 15g plant-based protein
  • 2.5g BCAAs
  • 2g glutamine
  • 1g Omega-3
  • Non-GMO
  • Gluten-Free
  • Vegan
So what does that mumbo-jumbo mean?!  It basically means that there is a lot of good protein for you in one single bar!  Your body needs protein.  BCAA (which is Branched Chain Amino Acids for those not into the lingo) help to take your muscles from being broken down from exercising to a rebuilding stage.  The glutamine is good for you because it helps to rebuild that muscle tissue and it also helps to support your immune system (no one needs to be getting sick in peak time of training).

The Vega Sport Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar has 260 calories for the bar, while the Vega Sport Chocolate Mint has 240 - for those of you who enjoy counting calories.  ;)

So taste-test time, right?!  What did I think of the two bars?  Well, the Vega Sport Chocolate Mint tasted a lot like a familiar Girl Scout cookie...hehe.  The outside has a crunchy taste to it, that I wasn't used to, but it's not something that would keep me from eating the bars.  The bar was a little "chalky" - I guess it's the protein taste to it.  The flavor stayed in my mouth for a while after eating it.  I washed it down with some water and was find.  Overall, I would definitely have this product again.  Now, I can't tell for sure that "helped my muscles" and "rebuilt my tissue", but I know it was a nice treat after a good workout.

I was just as please with the Vega Sport Chocolate Peanut Butter as I was with the Chocolate Mint!  I honestly had never heard of Vega before, but am so glad I have now.  I hope to try more of their products in the future (especially if they taste as good as these two did - and are as good for you)!
